We have her chair and it's home.  We have some tweeks to make to it.  Change a few things around to work better, but she is loving it!  In fact we had therapy today with Chrissy, yes, back with Chrissy for practice with the chair.  We are so lucky, we have 4 amazing therapists right now, and they all work so hard to help Quinn be her best, how lucky we are.

Back to the story, we had a long therapy session today to work on what needs to be worked on, and then Quinn got to drive for a bit.  It's so fun to see her get so excited, and work so hard, that today she was doing cookies in the parking lot, and she had her hat and sunglasses on, because it's hot!  Well, Chrissy, said, I think Quinn's eyes are shut, sure enough, she was sound asleep, and had not let go of the joystick, so she was driving while sleeping!  Yikes, can you get your power chair license revoked for that?

She did not wake up after some more changes and a ride home.  I think she looks like a little old man in these pictures, a super cute little old man.  We got home and she did not want out of her chair and she wanted a blanket, then she was back to sleep.  I meant to get some pictures at therapy but my camera battery was shot.  Oops!

What an amazing day we have had. First this this morning, we got Quinn's new braces. They take her feet up almost 3 sizes, so I have to get use to that, she looks like her feet are huge now.
Now that we have that set, we met up with Chrissy, Casey, Suzanne, and Kurt at Total Respiratory and guess what we finally have? Her chair!
Well, Quinn and Casey had to give each other a little love while I learned a bit about the chair. Then it was Quinn's turn, and this picture sums up what she thought!
This is so cool and exciting! She was so excited! Honestly just sitting here typing this, makes me bawl. This is going to change her life is so many ways. She is going to be in control! She won't have to wait for folks to help her or answer her as much. She will be able to move on her own. Oh my goodness, this is so huge for us. I can't even fathom how this will change her life, but I'm so excited to watch what happens.
We had a two hour appointment where we had to adjust everything, the seat, the foot rest, the joystick, the dynovox, move things around to make them work to best support Quinn. After a bunch of work, Quinn got to drive it, and she was so patient and was so excited, then she took off. Remember this is the first time she has driven this chair, and I was amazed. We still have some adjusting and adding to do to it, and we don't have it home yet, but by the end of this week we will.  She did amazing today. Thanks so much to Suzanne who has had to do so much paperwork to have this happen, and still is working on paperwork to get this totally approved, as we are still working on a few details dealing with her chair. Thanks to Kurt for working so hard to get the chair in working order, and thanks to Chrissy who started this process when Quinn was two years old. Wow, life is good!

Quinn worked so hard on walking in her walker today, after going potty on the potty this morning. Now she is sound asleep, after working so hard! A great day so far, and there is still a bunch of it to go. Gotta love it!

Beware of reading this one, it's pretty much potty filled! Well, we had an interesting night. A moment that I was not expecting. Well Quinn and I were watching tv, and she was being very interactive, taking and signing, we were having a great night, we were all cuddled up together, her sitting on my lap in our rocking chair. I got preoccupied with the show, and was not paying attention to her for a few moments, and all of a sudden my leg was warm. I look down and Quinn is giving me the potty sign with both of her hands. (As a side note, Quinn was wearing her pull up's and she is doing a great job going potty on the potty, when we are paying attention to her telling us she has to go. On that same line, she is doing a great job holding it, and so when she has to go, there is a lot of liquid there.) So the pull up did not do it's job and I basically had myself potty pants. I can honestly say it's been a number of years since I had potty pants! Hmmm, what a night, and that won't stop me from cuddling with my girl one bit! So I best be off I have laundry to do, and a girl to cuddle and get into bed!

Our 2nd and 3rd day in KC was busy too!
We went to lego land, and played and rode a super fun ride, and went to a 4-D movie where it snowed and rained in the theater. Then we ate at the crayola store, and then went to a musical. Quinn loved it, and sang with a few of the songs. The best part is before it started Grandma closed her eyes to rest and a few of the cast members came out to talk to us, and the king, got right up in Grandma's face, and when grandma opened her eyes, she was very surprised.
We also went to the aquarium and it was amazing! Did you know there was a puffer fish that has a dog face? It is so cute!
To finish up our trip we had to go to the art gallery. We had so much fun with this interactive piece that you could be part of it as the video would put you in it. Kaleb and I had a lot of conversations about what makes art, art, and it was a great discussion. Quinn loves to be in the museum, but by this time, I think she was a bit worn out, but she was so good, she is the only one of my passengers who stayed awake the whole way home. Oh, all of us girls got a doozy of a gift to bring home, a great cold. The cold was so cold inside, and the hot was not to bad, but hot enough to give us colds. Today seems to be better, but wow, it was a busy few days, so it's nice to have a bit of down time now that we have been home. Blessings, Susan

Our first day in Kansas City. We went to Union Station, saw the Titanic exhibition, and Science City, and finished it up by going to the Cheese Cake Factory. We did go swimming in the hotel, and Quinn kicked for over an hour, and she was amazing, I did not get a video of that, and wish I would have.

Goodness, we have had a lovely week.  We got to play with Grandma and Quinn's cousin Kaleb.  We played in Lincoln for a bit, and also in KC.  I think I took almost 400 pictures, but I'll only share a few.  Don't want to over due a good thing.  So let's start with the Lincoln days.  Kaleb went to therapy with us, and was a great inspiration for Quinn.  He was counting while she stood up.  The first few times he got to 30 and 40, so we decided that we all thought Quinn could do over 50 seconds of standing and so Kaleb started counting and got to something like 215 seconds.  Wow!  Quinn did great, I have to admit that after that, she was pooped for the rest of the day, but wow!  She is a strong little girl.

After that we went to the Lincoln zoo, and had so much fun there. Grandma and Kaleb rode a camel, Quinn played with a calf and both kids had so much fun with the butterflies. It was a lovely day.

Here is Quinn at Summer School from a few weeks ago, looks like they had lots of fun, and Quinn did a great job from everything I heard!

Friday we had another fun play day, and the pictures speak for themselves.  It was a fun day!
